On the afternoon of March 9, 2023, a delegation of six from Krirk University, Woosong University and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) visited NJIT. Shi Guojun, Chair of University Council, and Pu Lijie, Deputy Chair of University Council, warmly welcomed the guests and held talks on a new stage of international cooperation and exchanges with the three universities. The meeting was presided over by Deputy Chairman Pu Lijie.
Chairman Shi Guojun extended NJIT’s warm welcome to the representatives of the three partners and expressed sincere appreciation for their efforts in NJIT’s educational opening-up. He introduced the history and characteristics of NJIT to the guests, and pointed out that NJIT attaches great importance to international cooperation and exchanges and strives to promote the internationalization of education. In 2022, NJIT signed the agreement of cooperation in joint postgraduate education programs with Krirk University and Woosong University, which laid the groundwork for its entry into two university-cluster platforms, namely, Alliance of China-Thailand HEIs and Alliance of Jiangsu-Korea Universities. The University of Wales Trinity Saint David, as an emerging overseas partner of NJIT, has collaborated with the School of Art and Design on introducing overseas course, which has received positive feedbacks from both students and teachers.
Chairman Shi said that the friendly exchanges with the three partners have greatly improved the level of educational opening-up and promoted a larger global perspective of NJIT teachers and students. He hoped that today’s meeting, the first face-to-face meeting after the pandemic, will be an opportunity to further expand channels of high-level international exchanges among undergraduates and postgraduates, strengthen communication and personnel flow, and yield fruitful results in the actual communication; to further strengthen the cooperation with distinguished universities abroad on exchange study programs for teachers and students, so as to provide them with more opportunities for international exchanges; to further establish a solid mechanism of educational opening-up, introduce much diverse collaborative programs, and improve the educational opening-up level of NJIT.
Representatives of the three partner universities agreed that in the new stage of cooperation, they would actively conduct more in-depth exchanges and cooperation with NJIT on joint education, mutual visits between teachers and students, and Sino-foreign cooperative educational programs, so as to realize the high-quality development of both parties.
